The CEO of WIPO visited TECHNICOM

On May 18, 2022, Mr. Daren Tang, the CEO of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) accompanied by the Chairman of the Industrial Property Office of the Slovak Republic, Mr. Mgr. Matúš Medvec visited Košice. One of the main stops in Košice was a visit to TUKE, which has long been a leader in the area of patents among universities in Slovakia.

On the premises of the TECHNICOM University Science Park building, the delegation was welcomed by both, the Rector of TUKE and the President of UVP TEHCNICOM Prof. Stanislav Kmeť, who presented the University, as well as the future development vision of TUKE.

The Vice-rector and Vice-president of the park, Prof. Anton Čižmár, acquainted the delegation with the structure and functioning of the institution. The director of TECHNICOM, Associate Prof. František Jakab, emphasized that more than 170 start-ups have undergone an accelerated process since the establishment of these workplaces.

The last topic presented by TUKE was the area of intellectual property. The presentation was led by JUDr. Peter Čižmár from the Department of Intellectual Property Protection UVP TECHNICOM who is a guarantor for university patent processes at TUKE.

At the end of the visit, three more representatives of successful innovative ideas from the Incubator and Start-up Center TUKE (ceelabs, APONI, and Nordics IO) informed the visitors about the results of their activities in starting business activities and transferring ideas into real practice.
