Czech and Slovak Buildings of the Century

The Slovak Chamber of Civil Engineers (SKSI) in cooperation with the Technical University of Košice prepared a unique exposition titled “Czech and Slovak Buildings of the Century” in the premises of the University Science Park TECHNICOM.

Significant architectural works (dated from 1918 to the present) were included in the project Czech and Slovak Buildings of the Century. The general public and in the end the expert committee consisting of representatives of Czech and Slovak associations and unions, linked to the development of civil engineering over a long period, nominated 100 remarkable buildings from Czech and Slovak regions. The criterion for the nomination was the social significance and contribution of the building. The diversity of buildings was taken into account as to include residential and public buildings, monuments, infrastructure and water management constructions and industrial buildings.

On 6 May 2019, a vernissage was held, during which prof. Stanislav Kmeť, the Rector of TUKE, and Ing. Ján Petržala, the Vice-President of SKSI, welcomed the guests. The names of the laureates of the Jože Plečnik Award, called after an excellent Slovenian architect, were highlighted at the opening ceremony, namely: Ing. Miloš Nevický, PhD., Ing. Vladimír Kohút and prof. Ing. Arch. Peter Pásztor, PhD.

The exhibition is open to the public until 30 June 2019, on weekdays from 9am to 5pm.

Výstava je verejnosti prístupná v pracovných dňoch od 09.00 do 17.00 h do 30. júna 2019.
