The TUKE Children's University 2025 inspired more than 250 elementary school students in the summer
The Technical University of Košice will continue to be the largest children's university in Slovakia in 2025.
The Technical University of Košice (TUKE) organized a four-week program in July 2025:
👉June 30, 2025 – July 4, 2025
👉 July 7, 2025 – July 11, 2025
👉 July 14, 2025 – July 18, 2025
👉 July 21, 2025 – July 25, 2025
the 20th anniversary of the TUKE Children's University, which was attended by more than 250 children aged 7 to 13. The aim of the children's university was to give primary school pupils five days to learn about university life at Slovakia's second largest university in an interesting way and, through the programs of our nine faculties, to help children discover new things that will translate into a wealth of new experiences and knowledge, as well as new friendships.
All nine faculties of TUKE prepared a rich program full of new information and entertainment for young students.
- Mondays Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Materials, Metallurgy and Recycling
- Tuesdays Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics
- Wednesdays Faculty of Manufacturing Technologies and Faculty of Mining, Ecology, Management and Geotechnologies
- Thursdays Faculty of Civil Engineering and Faculty of Arts
- Fridays Faculty of Aeronautics
The children also enjoyed the modern world of virtual reality and artificial intelligence, magical physics, and a magic show including juggling and balloon modelling.
As part of the programme, the young students followed in the footsteps of Isaac Newton. They were also fascinated by controlling the Dobot robotic arm, which they used to move objects, as well as controlling a bridge crane, driving an autonomous vehicle, experimenting with hydrogen, and working with a microscope.
There were also topics related to waste recycling, material utilization, the Eduraw game, the basics of geodesy and map applications, immersion in the fascinating world of gemstones, searching for Earth's treasures, and controlling drones.
The young scientists competed in robotic soccer and a toy car slalom, tested their reflexes, and tried out a car driving simulator and an airplane flight simulator.
Participants in the children's university also created their own simple electronic circuit with LEDs, worked with concrete in a playful way, constructed bridges from building blocks, simulated the effects of wind during windstorms, modeled with clay, made their own pendants, badges, and masks, learned more about creating photograms in a darkroom, and drew their own self-portraits.
In addition to new knowledge and skills, our youngest students took away from the children's university a lot of positive experiences, good moods, and, we believe, inspiration for their further studies.
The young scientists completed their studies in the manner befitting university students. A graduation ceremony was held in the Aula Maxima, attended by their families, where the successful graduates of the TUKE 2025 Children's University were awarded their diplomas.
We are also very pleased that the children enjoyed our children's university so much that, according to their parents, most of them are planning to attend our children's university again next year.
Based on the number of participants, TUKE Children's University 2025 should be the largest summer children's university in Slovakia in 2025.
At the same time, TUKE welcomed almost 100 more children who participated in sports and leisure activities at TUKE through the Sports Summer with TUKE, organized by the Academic Sports Department of UJSŠ TUKE. TUKE also hosted another 10 children as part of a camp for gifted children.
In total, we provided new experiences and knowledge to almost 360 children at TUKE in July 2025, and we are very happy that this summer at TUKE also belonged to children.
In the future, TUKE is preparing several new innovative projects for other age groups, including younger children from kindergartens, as well as summer activities for high school students and the expansion of TUKE Children's University activities during the school year.
