Awards for Science and Technology 2018
University Highlights
The Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, in support of the development of science and technology and the recognition of the exceptional achievements in this field, awarded the Science and Technology Awards – the highest award in science and technology, for the year 2018. As a part of the gala evening held on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the Incheba Expo Arena in Bratislava, the awards were presented in the following categories:
- Personality of Science and Technology
- Lifelong Achievements in the Field of Science and Technology
- Personality of Science and Technology under 35
- Populariser of Science
- Scientific and Technical Team of the Year
The main message of the event is recognition and appreciation of the work of Slovak scientists for their particular importance in the development of society. At the gala evening, the Awards for Science and Technology were presented by Martina Lubyová, the Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, and Marek Hajduk, the General Director of the Science and Research Division of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the SR.
The Awards for Science and Technology 2018 were awarded to the following personalities from the Technical University of Košice:
- Lifelong Achievements in the Field of Science and Technology
Dr.h.c. mult. prof. Ing. František Trebuňa, CSc., Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
for lifelong achievements in the development of mechanical engineering, experimental mechanics and mechatronics
- Personality of Science and Technology under 35
Doc. Ing. Lucia Knapčíková, PhD., Ing. Paed. IGIP, Faculty of Manufacturing Technologies
for her contribution to the development of science and technology at the Faculty of Manufacturing Technologies and for project activities
- Scientific and Technical Team of the Year
The team of doc. Ing. Tomáš Brestovič, PhD., Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
for the implementation of hydrogen technology in the field of energetics and automotive industry
