A seminar on Electrical Engineering and R&D was held in Taipei with the active participation of the Technical University of Košice

On November 28, 2017, The Slovak Economic and Cultural Office Taipei, in cooperation with SARIO (Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency), The Technical University of Košice and Delta Electronics organized a specialized seminar focused on electrical engineering and R&D in Slovakia. The seminar focused particularly on comparative advantages of Slovakia, the advancement of technologies in production, innovation and research in this sector, the experience of Delta with business in Slovakia and the possibilities for new investments. Taiwan has extensive experience with the next topic of the seminar, i.e. interconnecting academia with industry, and can serve as an example for the Slovak academia.

Presenters have confirmed that electrical engineering is currently being applied to most branches of industry through R&D. In this respect, Slovakia is not behind and opens the door to the European market and particularly to euro area. The participants of the seminar expressed interest in more information and possibilities of cooperation with Slovak companies and scientific and research institutions.

Electrical engineering is the largest branch of industry in Taiwan, which accounts for almost 45% of total Taiwanese export (about USD 124.1 billion). Taiwan is also one of the world´s R&D leaders, into which the government invests around 3.1% of GDP per year (USD 33.7 billion in 2015).

The Technical University of Košice was represented by prof. Ing. Stanislav Kmeť, CSc., the Rector of TUKE, who met with the representatives of several universities and research centres, prof. Ing. Ján Šaliga, PhD., the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics and Ing. arch. Štefan Tkáč, PhD., from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, who took part in the seminar.
