Východ nie je EXIT /The East is Not EXIT/

On Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in Kulturpark, Košice, the first year of the kick-off conference " Východ nie je EXIT" /The East is Not EXIT/ took place with an initiative of the same name that intends to combat the outflow of young and clever people from Eastern Slovakia. The event took place under the auspices of the Technical University of Košice.

During three panel discusions, hosted by the event presenter Aneta Parišková, 12 Slovak and foreign speakers discussed the issues related to this current phenomenon. At the event, TUKE was represented by the Rector prof. Ing. Stanislav Kmeť, CSc., who was a member of the so-called "Expert Board".

Panel discussion topics were:

  • Panel/01 Východ nie je EXIT/The East is Not EXIT/ - an introductory discussion of experts about where we are and where we are heading. One of the speakers of discussion was prof. RNDr. Oto Hudec, CSc., Head of the Institute of Regional and Community Development TUKE.
  • Panel/02 Marketing of the region and schools in Eastern Slovakia - debates of marketing experts whether a good marketing can significantly change the image of schools and the region, and consequently the behavior of young people.
  • Panel/03 Post-return challenges and opportunities - with hope for the future. People, companies, projects and stories, which are the pride of the East.

At the end of the conference an action plan for 2018 - 2020 was introduced, aiming at making use of all the information, knowledge and inspiration which were presented at the conference.

The conference was the initial event of the 11th International Education Fair Pro Educo 2017.
